| Another brilliant Venoms classic, with all the guys on board (sans Wei Pai), plus your usual suspects, like Wang Li, Chui Tai Ping, Yeung Hung, etc.
It is another one, shot entirely on the magnificent Shaw Bros. interior sets, which can sometimes seem sort of claustrophobic. But here (as was the case with "Five Venoms") it works to the film's advantage. The people are trapped in the confines of the city. And when the heroes have to navigate through the streets at night, dodging brutal militia groups with cool sounding names, your mind (or at least mine) sort of drifts to the awesome Walter Hill classic, "The Warriors", which had a similar setup--although in 70's gangland New York.
The guys fall into their usual characters here. Kwok Choi is the lovable rogue. Chiang Sheng is the wiley, playful one. Lo Meng the slightly naive strongman, and so on. As always, their chemistry is undeniable. And while there is not much comedy as such, the guys are fun to watch, fighting, talking or just goofing around.
The choreo is tight as ever, with a nice mix of fisticuffs and truly brilliant weapons work, done true to form by Choi, Sheng, and Feng, the three opera school boys of the group. The end fight is quite a spectacle. There is so much stuff to marvel at here: a multitude of cool weaponry, handled with the utmost expertise, all shot on the beautiful Shaw sets, giving it that classic stage play vibe that I consider a big part of the overall vibe of these films.
This may not be one of the most well known Venom efforts but is definitely a solid yarn nonetheless and deserves to stand tall with the rest of them. |

The sets are more attractive and the acting more pleasing. | Jeffrey Frawley | | Y | loved this film.... guh :) | XslaveX |

 | | | | [THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS.] Hey, this movie was very good, in my opinion. Chiang Sheng, Lo Meng (my favorite Venom), and Kuo Chui are excellent when they act together. The action is awesome and the storyline is good also. But jeez, it sure sucked how Lo Meng's character died and it was horrible! But at least Kuo was able to pull through, thanks to Chiang sacrificing himself. Get this great movie, if you don't have it yet. | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | great review i would have considered getting it as you sayonly as you have given away the ending i dont think ill bother... | PD47302 |

 | | | | Another great production starring the cult favorite Venom Crew. We have the original Venom Gang minus Wei Pei, while adding unofficial sixth member Wong Lik. Add the Baby Venoms and sit back and enjoy the ride! Phillip Kwok, Lo Meng, and Chiang Sheng portray refugees that have to overcome the evil schemes of Lu Feng. Great martial arts action as usual from the talented Venom Crew! | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | Another entertaining Venoms film. | Roger Judd, Jr. |

| This time around, Kuo Chue, Lo Meng and Chiang Sen are refugees trying desperately to make ends meet during the Chinese civil war.
The cities are run by warlords, getting the most out of other people's plight and the country's chaotic situation. One of whom is Lu Feng, who also trains a team of warriors (Wang Li, Yang Tsiung, Sun Chien and another baby venom, Ju Thai Phing?) and their henchmen governing one region of the city: north, south, east and west.
The three refugees become fugitives when one of them is framed for murdering an official. Pursued by the warlord's warriors and their henchmen, the three have to fight their way through the city's district before arriving at the port to reach a safe haven.
Again Ni Kuang--the scriptwriter for Chang Cheh's films--has inserted a plot twist where two of the warriors governing the city district (Sun Chien and Yang Tsiung) are not what they seem to be.
The fight-to the-death showdown takes place at the city port between Lu Feng, armed with a gigantic spear, his warriors against Kwo Chue, Lo Meng and Chiang Sen with only one survivor left. Here the fights and stunts are, as always, breath-takingly Venomous to the max! |

 | | | | If you're a Venoms fan, you'll love this movie. If you're not a Venoms fan (???), you'll still enjoy this movie. Phillip Kwok, Chiang Sheng, Lo Fung and my favorite Lo Meng are all here. Loads of action and a solid plot, although with the Venoms, the plot is not neccesarily that important. Very, very good movie and highly recommended. | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | I don't really care for non-Venoms fans' opinions! This isn't my favorite Venoms film, but nearly all of them are quite good. | Jeffrey Frawley |

 | | | | Phillip Kwok, Wong Lik, Sun Chien, Chiang Sheng, Lo Meng, Lu Feng, Choh Seung Wan, Chin Siu Ho... When these guys get together it is nothing but fun and martial arts mayhem.
"Killer Army" takes place duing one of China's crutual age of freedom unitedness and togetherness. All of the characters play a surperb role and do it well. However, the best part is the casino part when the three refugees come together.
Although I am a bit concerned about the slow motion part, when the Killer Army is abusing the refugees, it doesn't signify anything; therfore, I kind of wish that Mona would've left that part out.
I mean, slow motion to harass and kill, is there a theme going on there or what? | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | [Warning: Contains Spoilers.] This movie has a lot of fights, and all were good. The story is maliciously good. My favorite scene is in the middle, when Sun Chien betrays the heroes. That threw me off. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | If you have never watched a Venoms movie, then you don't know what you're missing. I would recommend you watch this, then get your hands on anything these guys were in. I didn't know anything about these guys, then I got my hands on a copy of the movie "The 5 Venoms". Since then I have been collecting as many movies that they appeared in as possible, they are that good. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Classic intrigue layered storyline with the VENOMS! Only weakness is director Chang Cheh would have been better served going with a shorter fight in the end. Solid film, however, with excellent choreography. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

| "Rebel Intruders" is great for four reasons: economy of setting, characters, conflict, and resolution. By that I mean that the film very quickly and efficiently establishes these four features.
The setting is China during a time of civil war. A steady flood of immigrants keeps four regional bosses on their toes. The four bosses are each in charge of a gang, and each gang is responsible for security in their quarter. Three immigrants (Kwok Chue, Chiang Cheng, Lo Meng) get caught in their web of intrigue, power plays and deception.
Early on, you can guess which bosses are just and which are corrupt by their treatment of immigrants. You can also sympathize with a character like Jin Zheng Peng (Lo Meng): if he weren't starving, his martial skills would rival the bosses. Very spartan dialogue, but the acting speaks volumes about the characters.
The conflict and resolution are highly entertaining. The martial arts is side-splitting when it goes for humour (the gambling house fight) and deadly serious when it goes for heroic bloodshed (final battles). |
