A lesser Ti Lung Shaw film. There are a few flashes of brilliance here, mainly with the choreography, but the story itself just isn't very interesting.

Ti Lung himself is great, as usual, but the film feels like it was made up as they went along (not an altogether uncommon practice in Hong Kong it seems).

One note regarding the ending that I saw in one of the other reviews - it wasn't a defeat the villain to prove you're right ending; there was correspondence between Sha Er Lang and Meng Er Da that was handed over to the authorities.

On a sadder note, whilst looking the film up on the internet, I found out that Wong Yue, Ti Lung's student in the film, passed away last month (May, 2008) as a result of hepatitis.

Good movie. I thought the finale could have been a little better. Still a solid product from Ti Lung, Guk Fung, and Wong Yu.

I really loved this movie. It's not Ti Lung's best, but a really good movie. I would suggest this movie for any martial arts lover.

A great film starring one of my all time favorite actors, Shaw great Ti Lung. Ti Lung is excellent as we see his character framed and duped by Ku Feng's evil clan. Ku Feng's villainous portrayal is outstanding as usual. Wong Yue is also great as Ti Lung's eager pupil. This is a must have for all Ti Lung fans, and last but not least, I really enjoyed Tang Chia's fight choreography!

This is easily the best film I have bought to date. Good story, more about honour than revenge. Phenomenal fights. Highly recommended!

This is one of the few kung fu films with a lot of serious drama. Many forces try to bring down Ti Lung's character throughout the film and it's amazing how his character handled it all. Perhaps it was Wang Yu's welcome goofiness that lightened up things from getting too down in the dumps. The fight choreography wasn't bad but not on the level of a Chang Cheh or Liu Chia Liang film.

Good storyline and great action. One of my favorite Ti Lung films. Great Shaolin pole action. Of course Ku Feng is always great action and acting as the mean and nasty villain!

Ti Lung is not my favorite martial artist, but this movie is ok, but it's not worth four and one-half stars. The fight scenes were slow, it seems as if Ti Lung deliberately tried to make an okay film. The story is great, though, you can get three stars from me.
