Considering that it's a late sixties Taiwanese wuxia movie, it isn't too bad. But I must say that after seeing this movie I suddenly realize that "Flying Cat's Paws" (starring Judy Lee and Kam Kong) is an homage to this type of movie.

"Absurd" is really the keyword here. A bit of a frustrating mix of comedy and intrigue with older than old school swashbuckling choreography, this film likes to experiment but doesn't seem to be able to decide what it wants to be. Constantly bordering turkey territory with unintentional and not that well executed intentional comedy, you must be a die hard Wu Xia fan and/or camp connoisseur to get your kicks out of it.

I was very disappointed after viewing this 1969 Taiwanese made wuxia classic. The only redeeming features for me in this film were the colorful heroes and villains. The swordplay choreography was very basic and slow. I guess I've been spoiled by such wuxia classics as "The One Armed Swordsman" and "The Golden Swallow". The acting was okay but it was marred by the bad swordplay and inconsistent plot. The end was very disappointing due to the fact that a lot of plot threads were left dangling. It feels like a sequel or sequels were created to resolve the issues from the first film, and to continue the adventures of the main Hero, "Master Ou". Overall this was a bad film. I can only recommend this to the most hardcore old school wuxia fans, and only as an oddity!
