ALTERNATE SYNOPSIS:
The behind the scenes story of this film is as intriguing as the film itself! Veteran film director Yuan Qui Feng (Vagabond Swordsman. Rape of the Sword) teams up with top Shaw Bros, actress Le Di (Revenge of a Swordsman, Magic Touch) to form Golden Eagle Film Company. Together they set out to produce films that are on par with the Shaws and attract top talent including Shek Kin (Enter the Dragon) and Le's brother Lei Zhen.

Duel at the Supreme Gate was their first endeavor. Le plays Jade, a resident of the martial village Supreme Gate. The village holds Jin Jian, a magic mirror which gets stolen by rebel Shen Darong. Jade is blinded while attempting to stop him. She is then trained in Golden Xiao Blind Swordsmanship and leads the charge to retrieve the treasure.

Unfortunately there would be only one more film made (Red Plum Pavilion) for Golden Eagle Co., as Le Di committed suicide in late 1968. Her beauty and talent still draws devoted fans. Director Yuan Qiu Feng went on to direct more films for Shaw Bros., including Trilogy of Swordsmanship alongside Chang Cheh.
