A blend of yakuza movie and horror movie with all the crazy flair that only Teruo Ishii could bring. My favorite part of the movie was the traveling freakshow that is signature Ishii: all the crazy colours and sights convey what madness must truly look like. A must for Meiko Kaji fans--she does a great job as a girl with a sword and an urge for revenge.
A mix of the Yakuza and horror genres with a dose of ‘pinky violence’. Teruo Ishii is directing the a cool Meiko Kaji, swordplay, supernatural grudges, yakuza, mystery, terror, and intrigue. It may not be the best work of either Kaji or Ishii but it is a very great movie.
