Wow, what a ride. Bizarre, but good, and funny. This one's a shocker.

This is definitely a film that you either get or don't get. The silly humor gets better with repeated viewings. The film glides along fairly quickly, except for a few annoying "fights" that go on for too long. Asami and all of the guys act pretty well, but the rest of the girls don't really feel committed to the roles. Overall, it's a very enjoyable film, just be warned that you are getting into some weird stuff.

What a film. Expect to be shocked, surprised, disgusted, titillated, and humored. And as long as you have an open mind and love cartoons you'll be fine. 'Cuz this is exactly what "Sukeban Boy" is; an adult cartoon that's full of off the wall humor and grossness.

And lots of boobs.

It has its faults; sometimes bad lighting, terrible acting, and sometimes scenes will drag out that you wish would end...but if you can get over that kind of stuff, it's a damn fun ride that will shock you and your comrades. I'm glad I bought it.

I watched this because it has Asami, who was the tough car mechanic in "Machine Girl", in it. Don't expect anything serious from this movie. The actors are deliberately hamming themselves up in one silly scene after another. And you do get to see Asami get more nekkid than the Full Frontal Woman on the box cover.

First, people need to understand this isn't "Machine Girl". It is in the same WTF Universe as "Machine Girl", but it isn't "Machine Girl". That being said, this is a completely out of its mind comedy that piles on the complete WTF moments left and right, mixed in with a very healthy dose of seemingly ever present nudity (which isn't a bad thing).

The entire time I was watching this, I kept thinking this is like "Kekko Kamen", and in the credits I saw it was produced by Go Nagai (creator of "Kekko Kamen"). It is so out there, I think most people won't enjoy it; but for me it was the fact that they just went berserk with the plot that made it so much fun.

It could have been longer, but I think it may have overstayed its welcome if it did. Definitely in a class by itself.

Fans of "Machine Girl" may be disappointed in this film. The "action" looks like it was made up on the spot. The acting is pretty embarrassing. There's no story. Yes, there's a lot of nudity, but the girls aren't attractive and they're lit poorly. Everything about this film is amateur except for the performance by Asami as the Sukeban "boy". She is genuinely funny, but even she can't save this piece of low budget drivel.

The filmmakers seemed inspired by the "girl boss" pictures of the 70's, but what they failed to remember was that those films had actual production values. Whether they had a story or not, they were always lit well, had decent sets and costumes, and committed (if not brilliant) actors. The whole vibe of "Sukeban Boy" is as if someone said "Hey, I've got a movie camera. Let's go shoot something over at the school this weekend. It'll be funny!"

I had planned on giving this film 3 stars but I decided to make it 3 1/2 due the excessive amount of nudity shown throughout the ENTIRE film. The movie also has a very 70's exploitation type vibe underneath all the wackiness and comedic schtick. A lot of people have made remarks as to just how crazy and bizarre "The Machine Girl" is and while, in my opinion, "The Machine Girl" is a far superior flick, "Sukeban Boy" earns major kudos for being so daring.

Note: The runtime for this film is horrible. Seriously the movie clocks in just under 62 minutes. Let's hope the U.S. DVD comes jam packed full of yummy goodies.
