This movie was funny! Fu Sheng and Ti Lung are great actors and they play their characters well!

Pretty decent film starring one of my favorites, Alexander Fu Sheng. The plot is good and the fighting is above average, with Ku Feng and Chun Wai Man portraying the villains. Ku Feng's character is an evil doctor that has others do his dirty work and fighting, a little unusual since I'm use to seeing him in the action sequences. I rate this high because I like Fu Sheng's comedic performance--some people might not, but this film is worth a look!

YI agree the plot is good and the fighting is above average. However, I also thought there were a few slow spots which prevented this from being rated higher.William Giordanella

I must say that I was a bit disappointed. That movie was quite rare for awhile and I was expecting more out of it. If you like Ti Lung (I do), you should enjoy it. Not his best but good enough. The action and fights are okay, but I would have preferred for a bit more. Good cast but misused (like Ku Feng for exemple). Sometimes the movie drags too long between fights.

A decent film. I have seen better and I have seen worse. If you like Ti Lung then you should give it a try. Film did not quite live up to my expectations. I wanted more action and less talk. The opening fight is really good, but the middle of this movie is really boring. Ku Feng and the guy from "Five Element Ninjas" are really wasted in this film.

Not a bad movie with an interesting gimmick (yet makes no sense) by Ti Lung. He issues a death blow to his opponents which is where his sword breaks off an inch into his enemy's flesh. Don't try to think logically of how this happens for you might think he starts off his kung fu career with a 20 foot sword. Chan Wai Man shines as a man hell bent on revenge and Ku Feng plays a sinister doctor who is proficient with accupuncture needles and can "cure" people. Fu Sheng is in the mix as well as a gambler trying to pay his debts but keeps on getting involved with trouble. Long story short, if your a fan of the Ti Lung and Fu Sheng combo, get this. I only wished Chan Wai Man had more action.

Another amazing Ti Lung fantasy swordplay film. Beautifully filmed, terrific action and intrigue and Ti Lung kicking ass.

Good movie. Plenty of fights with a decent story and a scene in the movie where Fu Sheng drops Lily Li in a well, which was demented.

Excellent flick. The ever present Ti Lung never does anything wrong--no wonder he has starred in 80+ fu flicks. Fu Sheng plays his usual character, but don't get me wrong, he is also gifted with the fu action. And then we have Ku Feng, who, like Ti Lung, has starred in 20,000 flicks as well. But for me it was Chan Wai Man: out of all the actors, he stood out for me. He played his character very well; he also looked wicked when he made the transformation to the grey locks. But for me also it's about the choreography, and apart from the use of some interesting camera work, I thought some of the action wasn't as good as other fu flicks from 1979. But in saying that, I still think it's a worthy piece to add to anyone's collection.

I wanted to really like DBS much more than I did and it dawned on me toward the finale why it didn't deliver as promised.

There's an opening fight scene between Ti Lung and Chan Wai Man that is so good, it should have been the final fight instead of the intro.

Fu Sheng once again portrays a young, gifted, expert, and his background is really never fleshed out. We do understand he is upright, and filled with chivalry, but how is he able to compete with Ti Lung, the master of the Deadly Breaking Sword technique, a special technique , when he stabs an assailant, he breaks a tip of his sword off imbedding the tip inside his enemies' flesh? I love that technique though.

Ku Feng is back as another antagonist, filled with deceptions, lies, and betrayals. Was there ever a better villain in the Shaw company?

Directed by Sun Chung, Deadly Breaking Sword is a very good, entertaining, kung fu film, and as I said before, the choreography, by Tang Chai, is great, however, he should have upped the ante just a tad at the finale. This is still a very good film.
