This is one of the worst kung fu films I've seen. It has one of my faves, Wong Tao, but this is a very bad film. The effects were horrible. Sounded like a rolled up newspaper smacking repeatedly against the wall for the fighting sounds. Ugh. The story is just terrible. My dad once told me if I have nothing good to say about someone or something, I shouldn't say anything at all. Well I'm not saying one word.

YI totally agree with you, my friend on this one. I actually bought this movie because of Crash Cinema's boxcover, and inside was this movie...ap2

A star-studded cast graces this looked over outing; and whilst it's great to see so many classic stars, together I couldn't help but feel this movie is very hit and miss in its execution.

The plot, while more complex then many similar efforts, is basically the traditional "We must destroy Shaolin!" movie. It's very competent in executing its plot and the strong cast put in good work especially at the times where characters are developed and thickened out for us to connect to.

However, I disagree with many when it comes to the fights. While it does have its fair share, the choreography wasn't quite to my liking. Don't get me wrong, it's above average, but at times it feels very blocky and awkward. Maybe it's just that I prefer the quicker, more eye-widening complexities from other movies, but I felt disappointed with this at times.

An achievement in the genre but overall I feel it has a very average feeling about it.

Very good; lots of action. The story is better than usual also. Lots of stars in this one. The final fight scene is terrific. The last time I saw this it chopped off the last 2-3 minutes, so it drove me crazy!! Glad to finally see it on DVD. I highly recommend this for any martial arts fan.

Nine times out of ten, when you put great stars and martial artists together in one film--like Don Wang Tao, Chang Yu, Phillip Ko Fei from Bruce Lee's "Enter The Dragon"; Tung Wei and Ms. Chia Ling (Judy Lee) from "The Queen Boxer"--expect nothing less than an excellent movie. This one is Mr. Wang's best performance and kung fu output.

The plot is, well, almost non-existent and the fights are very well you know what I mean hit, block, pause, repeat. it's like two fighters performing their katas and being right next to each other, very staged. Watch something like Fearless or a good Donnie yen fight to see the opposite of what I'm trying to say. The fights here look very choreographed vs. the speed and improvisation you would see in the other examples I mentioned. Anyway.....I'd pass on this as there are many other titles worth your $$.

"10 Shoalin Brothers" was an unexpected winner and this should not really be so [surprising], as none other than Tommy Lee choreographed the (often stunning) fighting sequences. Wang Tao, Philip Kao Fei, Stephen Tung and Judy Lee are all very good in a better-than-average movie, but it is the great Chang Yi who walks away with the acting laurels here.

The movie is different in that character development is not limited to the hero, but also to the chief villain. Chang Yi quite excels as the bereaved father bent on avenging the death of his son by taking on Wang Tao and Phililp Kao Fei in the finale.

"10 Shaolin Brothers" is a winner on nearly every score. While it is not quite as good as "The Secret Rivals" or "Along Comes The Tiger", it is in my view amongst the top 10 or 15 kung fu movies of all time. Buy it and enjoy it.

There are many mistakes in this film: "You can- a killa two bird with a one stone." "He been hit with Chinese Karate". These are things you don't say in a kung fu movie. I do not recommend this film to no one.
