While resting at the Po Kau Temple on the way home from a funeral, Mrs. Seung Gok and her daughter Ngan Ngan run into highway robbers. Luckily, they are rescued by Cheung Kwan Shui. Shortly after, a romance ensues, and Mrs. Seung Gok agrees to a marriage between Ngan Ngan and Kwan Shui. Upon finding out that he is poor, she later she breaks it off, forcing the couple to only meet secretly.
