Set in early 70's Hong Kong, Ti Lung, Simon Yam, Andy Hui and Maggie Cheung lead an excellent cast of characters in this actioner about police corruption and triad control.
Overview:
Hong Kong was a corrupt society during the early 1970s. To fight against the corruption situation, Governor Maclehose instructed Sir Blair Kerr to investigate. Sergeant Wong was brought in, and after much effort, he gathered enough evidence against Luk. However, the investigators and witnesses were attacked on their way to court. With this, Governor Maclehose approved the establishment of "ICAC" and Wong was assigned to investigate against corruption and bring Luk and his group to justice
A shameless rip-off of David Mamet's version of The Untouchables that offsets its unoriginality with ferocious action scenes--and, of course, the inevitable but somehow reassuring presence of Maggie Cheung. Ti Lung is the "untouchable" cop, Yam Tat-Wah is the friend who betrays him. Hui and Lau play amusing side characters. Solid acting all around.
IIB - "Adult Material; Parental Guidance Recommended" (roughly equal to an MPPA rating of "R") Films rated Category IIB contain large amounts of violence and/or nudity and sexual situations in addition to possible explicit language and adult situations.
