Whoa! Those Japanese could be pretty horrible during war times--a reminder that some of the ultra-violence that seems amusing in films isn't so much fun in real life. Regardless, a very well made flick intercutting actual historical footage with dramatic recreations of the atrocities. Some of the "extra" material was also very illuminting. Relatively low budget, and fairly unskilled actors with lots of the typical east-Asian facial mimic in their acting. But nevertheless a very important film that deals with the single most gruesome massacre committed during the second world war. The Japanese have, successfully, denied its existence despite the overwhelming photographic evidence the Japanese troops themselves provided. Buy this film for its historical importance.
