'Twin Dragons' is a fun and entertaining action-comedy that manages to please despite its shortcomings(The traffic jam of director styles from Tsui Hark's brand of visual effects to Ringo Lam's brand of tension, violence, and brutality to fight coordination ranging from Jackie Chan to Ching Siu Tung to Yuen Woo Ping and others, Teddy Robin Kwan's annoying antics, the familiar plot, etc.). The number of action scenes are limited in this film, but they're well crafted and exhilarating to watch. The situation comedy elements do slow down the film's pacing, but the comedy is interesting, nonetheless. Maggie Cheung and Nina Li do provide some nice "eye candy" and both women are fine actresses(quality thespians seem to be lacking in HK cinema nowadays, unfortunately). This film may not be one of Jackie's best, but it is still a load of fun to watch even after repeated viewings.

I used to have a badly-dubbed VHS of this film and then went to see the American New Line Cinema re-release at theaters. This has always been a fun favorite of mine with one of the best one-man-against-the-world type of Jackie fights at the car testing facility at the end of the movie. I never had actually seen this movie, I realize now that I checked out the HK version! Whole running gags were deleted with the simple renaming of the main characters. The music and story line were complete and much better than the American release, I wonder do they think American audiences won't get the humor? Why do they chop these films til they make no sense? Anyway this is a really good fun Jackie movie that is filled with good humor and excellent fights!

Jackie Chan does his own "Double Impact" thing, only better! He plays twin brothers who were separated at birth - one raised by an upper middle class family to be an accomplished concert pianist and orchestra conductor, and the other (raised by a working class mother) becomes an accomplished street fighter and works in an auto plant. The conductor can't fight or handle himself in Triad affairs, and the auto worker can't conduct a symphony orchestra, so naturally they meet up - as adults - and find themselves having to switch places and "wing it" in the other's shoes. Fortunately, they have a bit of a "psychic link" which makes each occasionally able to "experience" what the other is going through, both on a sensory and on a physical level. (When one Jackie is going through an action packed speedboat chase, the other is sitting in a restaurant, jerking around inexplicably, and feeling seasick!) Amusing situations abound, when the two brothers, each on the brink of beginning new relationships with extremely eligible young women (Maggie Cheung and Nina Li Chi), find themselves switching places so often that it becomes unclear who will end up with whom... The comedy is well played in the first part of the movie, but action scenes are what dominate the final sequences, including a final confrontation with some Triad boys in an automobile testing facility... Overall, definitely a satisfying film - but not one of the few most memorable Jackie Chan productions. (Some dangerous stunt work with cars in this one!)
