A gem of a movie, the leads are magic. Chow Yun-Fat portrays a strong independent man but at the same time shows and communicates a much more pitiful and emotional person.

The storyline is very basic: guy and girl in a alien environment depending on each other and coming to terms with their relationship and where thay want their future to head.

The characters move the film.

You will love it.

Down-to-Earth Masterpiece

A shiny work out of tons of movies in Hong Kong. Simple but touching story makes every assortment for this movie glittering. Yun-Fat Chow is on his best out of bulletproof action scene, and gloriously taking role of humble and warm-heated ex-sailman who falls in love with his unexpected sibling. Greatly shot in New York Chinatown and NYU for reality. Music and art works are superb.

Boring story, the relationship build-up for the 2 main characters is weak.

Mabel Cheung Yuen-ting directed this light hearted, simplistic love story filmed on location in New York City. Chow Yun-fat earned a best actor nomination for his portrayal of Figgy, a fun loving ex-sailor assigned to show his distant cousin (Cherie Chung) the finer life of New York. Beautiful cinematography, finely crafted performances by the leads, and a simple, yet touching screenplay help rank this low budget production as one of the finest Hong Kong films of the 1980's.
