| Video: The film relies on it's visual strength as much as it does its storytelling and the cinematography is beautiful. The aspect ratio is 1.85:1 and looks excellent. Almost every shot appears to be in natural light yet everything can be seen well. The images are sharp and clear.
Audio: Audio is in Vietnamese stereo and sounds very good. There is not much of a soundtrack and no explosions of big noisy sounds.
Extras: There is a seven minute interview with the director in which he talks about the importance of buddhism, the ubiquitious nature of water, French colonialism and water buffalo. Short but to the point. The only other extra is a trailer for all the other films in the Global Lens 2005 series.
Overall: ...The DVD looks and sounds great but the extras are minimal. |
