Plot:	Carlo, whose father is a high ranking fascist, falls desperately in love in love with Roberta. The two have to fight social and class prejudices, and Carlo has to face the consequences of his father's political choices while trying to defend his love.
Overview:	July 1943: Italy is witnessing the last days of the Mussolini regime. Carlo (Jean-Louis Trintignant, The Desert of the Tartars), whose father is a high ranking fascist, falls desperately in love in love with widow Roberta (Eleonora Rossi Drago). The Two have to fight social and class prejudices. But when they finally accept to stand up for their love, Italy surrenders to the allies thus igniting the germans anger and fury. Carlo now has to face the consequences of his father's political choices while trying to defend his love for Roberta.
