This movie is so slow, but there is a nice ending to wait for. Not so bad!

NThe film went over-budget and it resulted in a very zany story & some bad action sequences. The film is not good just because the last 10 minutes is exciting. For a reviewer 2 rate a movie like this w/ 3 stars is inaccurate & a disgrace 2 real true fansAshley
NThe movie was all right- it has a lot of goofiness to it, but just beacuse the ending delivers does not mean to give it 3 stars- You rate funny.Rambo part 5 please
YThe ending is very good for 3 stars.Black Belt Ninja
NThe whole movie was crazy-bad, a last action scene does not save a movie for being 3 starsKungfuManiac
YI agree with you on this. My Lucky Stars is a mixed bag of peanuts. It has a lot of zany & odd moments but the fights at the end saved it from being trash. I agree it's not so bad at all.JV47842

When Sammo was running late and over budget on this film Jackie and Biao agreed to help. Unfortunutly Biao is seen only in the very beginning and the very end.

The movie begins in Japan with Jackie and Biao following a known crook. They end up in a amusement park, have a brief fight with the bad guys and Biao is kidnapped. Jackie realises he needs help and has Sammo released to help him. Crooks are better at fighting and capturing other crooks? So Sammo and his gang of bungling buddies are released to a female cop, Sibelle Hu. Sibelle Hu must have been desperate to sign on this insulting role. Sammo and his buddies are constantly trying to think of ways to get laid, or at least cop a feel. This goes on and on seemingly forever. The very few Japanese words that are used are insulting translated incorrectly. If not for that and the group gropes I would have given this movie a higher rating.

This is a fun action flick complemented by plenty of humor that had me holding my sides at times. In particular, watch for the scene where Sammo and his buddies order breakfast in a Japanese hotel, despite not being able to speak the language.

While it's true that some of the comedy sequences act mostly as filler until the big fight in the end, when the fists and kicks fly it's quite a satisfying finale.

Muscles (Jackie) and Ricky (Biao) are cops who are out to catch a bent cop who could lead them to a major criminal in Japan. Ricky is captured and Muscles goes into hiding. Their inspector recruits the help of Fastbuck (Sammo) and he puts together the old orphanage gang, a bunch of small time criminals who aren't very tough because they know very little kung fu. They are required to go undercover and help their ex friend Muscles catch the notorious criminal. A fast paced action comedy with many hilarious situations and although the emphasis is not Jackie it still contains many good fight scenes.

Original entry in the "Lucky Stars" series of comedies (with an all-star cast) about a group of misfits who grew up together in the same orphanage with each other and future cop Jackie Chan. They grow up to be good-hearted, semi-bungling thieves who often end up in some combination of being on the run and helping Chan to catch the real "bad" bad guys. Notable for the first appearance of Michiko Nishiwaki (including a fight scene with Sibelle Hu) in an HK movie. Some great action/fight sequences, featuring director Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, and Jackie Chan, but they are too few and far between, unless you happen to really enjoy these films' particular brand of humor.

For non-Cantonese (and maybe Cantonese) speakers, this movie is aimless and most of the humor is only infrequently funny. The characters' motivations are not communicated through the subtitles and the plot isn't understood until the movie's over. Even then it's hard to figure out what happened. This movie feels like filming commenced without a completed script.

The editing is also awful. For goodness sakes, the movie starts in mid-scene. Scenes drag on in the most painful manner. Based on the cover photo, even one of the main costume characters (the blond with antennae on the right) got completely edited out of the film.

Of the billed stars, Yuen Biao's role is essentially a cameo, and Jackie Chan is a bit player whose character is forced into the movie about half-way through. Don't let the marketing efforts fool you: Jackie, Yuen, and Sammo are the only credited stars on the DVD case and Jackie's face appears alone on the spine of the DVD. This is completely misleading. The ensemble cast occupying the majority of the movie pushes off some bad 5th grade humor and are minimally funny in the subtitled version (who knows if they are funny at all otherwise). If you want a good movie with Jackie, Yuen, and Sammo go get Dragon(s) Forever (uncut if possible) or Wheels on Meals instead.

Well, Mates, this is a bit of a send up tribute to the three stooges meet the Bowery gang. An interesting blend of slapstick, stunts, bungling good guys, a fierce Japanese babe-with-attitude and, oh yes, even a plug for our favorite femme fatale Brigitte Lin (who's name appear as does a photo of her being horded by the prison gang). This is the first works for two actresses: Sibelle Hu and the Japanese body building champion, Michiko Nishiwaki. Sibelle plays the poor gal in charge of Sammo's misfit gang sent to assist Jackie Chan in helping another cop escape the clutches of a Japanese gang. As for Michiko, she gets to show more than her kimono in this one and sends poor Sibelle slamming into the wall. As a side note Michiko said her final encounter with Sammo was particularly tough because she had to fall straight back, stiff as a board and suffered bumps on her head after several takes. Babes aside there is a terrific battle when Jackie enters a Japanese amusement park horror house and goes toe to toe with the bad guys. Sammo does some incredible fight scenes as well. The bit where Sammo's group strike kung-fu poses to scare off the villains is a hoot! There are slow spots but overall this is an enjoyable ride. I had fun picking out all the homages to the Stooges. I give this a thumbs up.

Not one of Jackie's finest but definitely one to watch.
