The only interest I had in this film was that it was HVD and had English subtitles.
The film was okay. nothing remarkable but certainly not a waste of my time or the talent on and behind the screen.
But what I was most curious about was the Chinese HVD system. On the Helios seen on a Sony Bravia 32 there is little doubt that the HVD does look sharper and cleaner than upscaled DVD's. I didn't have a copy of this film to do an A-B comparison, nor do I have Blue Ray or the Toshiba system so I can't compare to those either.
The improvement was not so great as the improvement of 480p next to an upconverted 720p or 1080i but it was noticeable, smooth and gave great depth and sharpness to the image.
Its good enough, and cheap enough, that I'd like to see more HVD films. |
