 | | | | Tsui Hark's "The Legend of Zu" is a visual and gorgeous eye candy but that really doesn't make a film great. The film lacks a plausble plot. Though this movie has massive visuals of CGI mess, I just couldn't really get into it, I felt I had to belittle myself to appreciate it. And with that being said maybe little kids would enjoy this mythical feast. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Someone said this equals the caliber of "Lord Of The Rings"...interesting comment. I think this needed a third movie. All of your reviews have their points. If they had a third movie, they could have developed the characters and story a whole lot more. This could have been big, but it felt like a 4 hour movie broken down into an hour and a half, which is a shame. It is visually stunning but in overload, had so much potential, that's the sad thing. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | A highly enjoyable film with dazzling special effects. Ekin gives another good preformance and the rest of the cast is good too. If you like "Storm Riders", you'll definitely like this one. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | An over-hyped movie. I'm a fan of Tsui Hark, but this movie stinks! As one reviewer mentioned earlier, plot and acting, haha! This movie used way way way way way too much (i'm not exaggerating) CG. I swear they could have made this entire movie standing in front of a blue screen throughout the entire filming. This is really weak on the plot. Everyone has like one word to say each time the camera pans onto them. Proper CG usage is good and usually it enhances the movie. This movie just has CG...really boring. The only reason I gave it a .5 star is because I thought the wing designs for the characters were really cool. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

This is a great film--it equals the same caliber as the Lord of the Rings. Compared to previous films of the director (Tsui Hark), I think this is very beautifully made. This film has amazing cinematography and martial art fight scenes, but it kind of loses its ground in the middle due to so many special effects--not that they are not good, but I think it's a bit over done. Over all I give this film, "The Legends Of Zu"--or the "Zu Warriors", going to be released by Miramax soon...--TWO THUMBS UP. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

| This is an incredible comeback from movie director mastermind, Tsui Hark. It is one of a few movies that deserves to have a face to face match to Steven Chow's Shaolin Soccer. From the moment the movie started, there were astonishing backdrops at every edge which were vividly depicted. If you are a science fiction or Chinese martial arts "geek", you'll love the excessive amounts of many 3D effects and realistic computer generated weapons. There comes a fine performance (as always) from Ekin Cheng who plays "Sky King". He teams up with Louis Koo (Red)--I was very impressed by his flexible "wing" which deflected incoming attacks. The fighting movements of these actors were proficient in every way. Not only is the action superb but the film has a somewhat complex storyline. Many criticizers of this movie complain of the lack of story/theme or just "shoved in random bits of debris". However, the viewer cannot rely on watching Dragon Ball Z and other similar Manga Cartoons to understand this movie. Others who are familiar with "Wu Xia" movies will have a better approach. In due respect, there can be one weakness that could be foreseen. The blow that was delivered to the enemy at the very last fight scene could have been more substantially and devastatingly made. In spite of all this, its a must-see. |

| WOW - What a great movie. The special effects are top notch. I know that this movie had less than favourable reviews when released earlier this year in Hong Kong.
But I never follow critics reviews anyway. This movie is a joy to watch from start to finish.
This film is basically an update of the original but with a bigger budget. (The original is still a better movie but I still loved this movie.)
Tsui Hark has made a perfect Special effects movie. OK so the plot is not the best one. But it does have a good cast who do a great job with the special effects. My fave bit is the Phantom warriors fighting scene. Excellent CGI and stop motion effects.
This movie beats all Hollywood special effects movies. This is what Final Fantasy should of been.
The DVD is must have. The extras are quite good. Trailers/Cast & crew info/Making of. And the picture and sound quality is the best I have seen in a long while for a Hong Kong DVD.
Disney/Miramax pictures have picked this movie for distribution (well the Weinstein brothers are executive producers). It will be released August 2002. It has been rumoured that 10 mins will be cut out and the dialogue heavily re-written because the audience might not understand it.
As I stated before the first one is still better but this is still an amazing experience to watch.
I wonder if Ekin Cheng is sick of being typecasted. (StormRiders, A Man Called Hero and this - People with superhuman powers.) But he still puts in an understated perfomance as King Sky.
One of the best movies I have seen in years. |

 | | | | I think they overdid it and used too much computerized special effects and that took a lot away from the overall presentation of the movie. I was expecting more realistic fight scenes with subtle special effects. However, I did like the story and the characters were very interesting. This is not your typical Tsui Hark/Yuen Wo Ping movie... | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | This movie blew me away from start to finish. [The] graphics were just what I've been waiting for. Every scene was nonsense back-to-back action...not only for martial arts fans but will satisfy Sci-Fi exponents also. Number one this year by far, and I own over 1000 martial arts movies. If this doesn't get you off, then you're DEAD. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |
