| This is a reasonably entertaining movie, and noteworthy as it was a joint Chinese-Japanese co-production from the early 1980s.
The plot involves a Mongol warlord wanting to move reinforcements to the army attacking Chinese forces on the frontier, and his convoy must pass a manor owned by a patriotic Chinese gentleman. Meanwhile, a young Japanese ninja arrives on the scene to search for a traitor to his clan, a masked assassin believed to be now working for the Mongol general. The ninja gets captured, although it's never made clear why he was spared.
Eventually, the comrades of the Chinese lord rescue him while attemping to save their master's pretty daughter, as she's captured as well by the Mongols to ensure the old man's cooperation in letting the convoy safely pass.
Thus, all the good guys finally join forces to kick butt, and the final duel is pretty good, as it showcases both the Japanese and Chinese styles of martial arts. |
