Harmonium in my Memory tells of a very simple, about a young fresh graduate Suha (Lee Byung Hun) who decides to go an teach in a village school. There he met a fellow teacher Eunsoo and fell in love with her at first sight. Both Suha and Eunsoo love music and through sharing his LDs with Eunsoo, he conjured up for himself this wonderful picture of himself and Eunsoo together not knowing that she was already engaged and would be leaving to get married soon. Intertwined in this one-way relationship between Suha and Eunsoo, was another innocent village girl Hongyeon who fell in love with her teacher, Suha. Through writing diaries for her class assignment, she wrote confessions of her love and admiration for Suha which made Suha a little uneasy. It was only after SUha became love forlorn when he learnt of Eunsoo's marriage and after a fire in the school that he slowly came to terms with himself. He realized he was not really the teacher he wanted to be. He wanted to leave.

It was then that the show ended with a vague ending, showing what seem like wedding photos of Suha and Hongyeon...In fact it was purposely left vague to give room for imagination. One could choose to imagine Hongyeon as his wife or not.

Although the storyline is simple, some may say boring.... and there's not too many ups and downs in the story, I give it a 4 because it is a movie meant to be watched with the heart....Byung Hun had acted well in his expressions and gestures...the way he touched his hair when he was nervous, the look of anger and helplessness when he knew that his LD was broken by his students, the way he looked engrossed in the music and his look of surprise when he saw the students in his class. Upon seeing the show one realizes how deprived some children in this world are, yet how innocent, happy and contented they look.

It is a story of hope and simplicity. Simplicity sometimes just means happiness.... Happiness can be so easy sometimes yet we try so hard to get it not knowing that it is just there....

I am not generally a fan of romantic movies, but there are exceptions to every rule. For me, this movie is it. The romance between the two leads is not contrived or forced in any way. It develops naturally between two people who meet together daily. Anyone who has ever experienced a crush can identify with Hong-yeon. She searches for hidden meaning in her teacher's every action which she happily interprets to suit her fantasy. This movie is filled with warmth towards all of its characters. There is no enemy per se, just every day people. The scenery is memorable and matches the emotions of the film well. Watch the ending carefully as the credits begin to roll. It is there you can find the true conclusion to the film.
