| It’s a standard Hong Kong release of another Celestial Pictures’ remastered and restored Shaw Brothers movie. As expected, picture quality is excellent. If Celestial made any changes to this film, as they have done with some other releases, I couldn’t tell just from looking at this print. The Mandarin and Cantonese audio tracks sound fine. Removable English subtitles for once translate the Chinese character names that are splashed onscreen when a new character is introduced. This is a common convention of literary-based wuxia pian that’s meant to help the audience keep track of all the major characters.
Basic extras include trailers, partially obscured movie stills, original poster art, a brief description (“production notes”), and profiles of leading cast and the director. |
