 | | | | The father of Kaiju, "Godzilla" is one of the best science fiction movies out there. The Japanese version, known as "Gojira", is by far the superior version of the film. The movie is a decidedly grim affair mirroring the horrors of war, which the Japanese audience would be very familiar with, seeing how this movie was made in 1954, a mere 9 years after World War 2. Born in the Cold War cauldron of atomic weapon stockpiles and the threat of total anhiliation, Gojira came to symbolize all that was evil about atomic weapons and still resonates today despite the passage of more than half a century. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | "Gojira" is an epic monster movie that every movie fan should see. Although the original "Gojira" is significantly better, the American "Godzilla" is worth the view. I agree with the other review that it portrays the horrors of war better than most actual war movies. "Gojira" is awesome and the effects aren't that bad for a 1954 movie. Overall I loved it and couldn't recommend it enough. A definite must-own. | | AGREE? | READER COMMENTS | AUTHOR | | Y | | JV47842 |
