One of the films Quentin Tarantino used as a reference in the "Kill Bill" movies. The action here is really good, since it does star Gordon Liu and has Lliu Chia Liang as the mastermind behind the scenes. A notable film and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
I love director Lo Lieh, his work is always impressive and done masterfully. "Fist Of The White Lotus" is an amazing martial arts film. It is breathtaking and I absolutely love it.

I really liked this movie. In comparison to its counterpart, "Executioners Of Shaolin", I found the fight scenes to be better and more plentiful. You can't lose with Gordon Liu!
One of my favorite Shaw Bros. movies. Gordon Liu is fantastic, as is Lo Lieh. What more can one ask for than Gordon Liu as a monk fighting Lo Lieh as Pei Mei? A classic every Shaw Bros. fan should own.
Classic old skool with Gordon Liu in top form in familiar revenge formula, seeking to avenge his fallen comrades by taking on the white lotus sect and their nasty leader, Pai Mei, played excellently by Lo Lei. Also a great cameo by the graceful and highly skilled Hui Ying Hung, who helps train our hero in her own special way. There are some silly dozy moments with Hui's brother and Gordon which can drag on a bit, but all in all a classic ol' skool epic with high quality kung fu action and plenty of it.

Loved this movie. The cross-gendered style of having to beat the villain definitely throws you for a loop but fits in perfectly. I always love the acupuncture-oriented fight scenes. Lo Lieh is a great villain who doesn't outshine Liu. Pick this one up.
There are so many, and still this is one of my favorite Gordon Liu movies. The martial arts in this movie are great to watch. He trains, he learns, and fights. It's also awesome to watch Lo Lieh as Pun Mei showcasing some light skills!!!
The first Shaw movie I ever bought, big fan. Quintessential film of the infamous Priest Pai Mei.
While there are some gaping plot holes (probably due to sub-standard translation in the English dubs), the action is fantastic. Gordon Liu and Lo Lieh truly bring out the best in one another's martial ability with their three scenes together.
Features acupuncture in fighting and addresses different styles and approaches to fighting.
A must-own flick for all martial arts enthusiasts out there. I love this film!

This is the sort of film that defines classic kung fu. Great choreography on top of a good plot. Good characters in great scenery. Action! "Fist Of The White Lotus" should be on every kung fu fan's must-see list.

An outstanding remake of "Executioners Of Shaolin" also starring the late great Lo Lieh. Lo Lieh is at his best as Priest White Lotus, head of the White Lotus Clan. Some think that he is portraying Pai Mei whom he has played in "Executioners" and "Abbot Of Shaolin" (a.k.a. "A Slice Of Death"). However, in the English dubbed version of Fist of the White Lotus, Lo Lieh clearly states that he wants revenge for the killing of his classmate Pai Mei. Lo Lieh directs beautifully and the fight sequences are excellent as always when choreographed by Liu Chia Liang! Lo Lieh's best since the classic "King Boxer" (a.k.a. "Five Fingers of Death")!
Some sort of a sequel to "Executioners From Shaolin", and it's very good. Lo Lieh directs and stars as Priest White Lotus (brother of master White Eyebrow). The story is good, the fights are great and especially the last one. What more can I say? It's a must-see, must-buy DVD.
I was pleasently surprised with this kung fu flick. The action was old school at its best. I will watch it more than once.
Number 7 in my all time top 10. Lotus chief and his hidden vital nerve, not to mention him floating away when he feels the need. Another Shaw classic.

Great follow-up to "Executioners of Shaolin", though not really a sequel but more of another version of the story. A bit more humor, but plenty--and I mean plenty--of great action. It was directed by and starred the late Lo Lieh and he did an excellent job on the former and the latter as Pei Mei character.
A killer sequel to "Abbot of Shaolin" and "Executioners from Shaolin". I would consider these to be the sequel to "Invincible Shaolin", as well, but that's just my opinion. Anyway, this movie totally kicks butt. Basically a rehash of "Executioners from Shaolin", but bad-ass nonetheless.
I have seen hundreds of kung fu movies and this one is my favorite. Gordon Liu's character in this movie is very likeable. It's easy to relate to him in this revenge flick. You have to love his determination in this movie. He actually receives a lot of beatings by Pai Mei, not just one. But he never gives up. His determination and ability to go from being fun loving and humorous to intense and powerful in this movie is great. The fight sequences cover all grounds of fights seen in similar movies, but you can see it all since this movie combines it all. There is some decent display of his Tiger-Crane style kung fu here that he uses to wreck people too. This movie is well balanced with Liu's silliness and intensity and is probably the most fun kung-fu movie I have ever seen.
Excellent kung fu flick based on revenge. Lo Lieh is once again great as legendary baddie, Pai Mai. This is a remake of the classic "Executioners Of Shaolin", but I believe surpasses it for mainly one reason: Gordon Liu, who was killed early in the original. Although it may not be one of Liu's finest performances, it is still worth mentioning among kung fu classics

| I'm going to go against the grain on this one and say I don't like this flick as much as most Gordon Liu fans do. Don't get me wrong, there are some decent fight scenes, but what got me the most was the repetitive go fight/get beat up/go back and retrain/go back and fight but not 100% ready/get beat up/go train again, etc. Not to be homophobic, but Gordon Liu had some gay moments in his training/fighting (trust me, I understand the whole logic behind it all). The end scene is the best though with the acuputure needles. This is a remake of "Executioners Of Shaolin" with Gordon Liu taking his revenge on the White Lotus Clan. I watched the PanMedia Version 1 DVD. Warning for those wanting to get the IVL/Deltamac versions, the audio remixes on those are horrible. You never know, Dragon Dynasty may release this in the future (that's if they've acquired the rights to it) and give it a proper remaster. |

Is it that good ? Basicaly, I went off martial arts films for awhile after seeing a majority of the great ones. However I idiotically decided to leave this one for another time. But I watched this and it was like watching martial arts without wirework or large special effects and CGI for the first time. |
Heard about this movie from a friend when I was 10 years old. 17 years later I finally bought and watched it. This movie was superb. Fight scenes were intense. A great addition to my collection. A must see and for old school kung-fu fans.
Would have been a 3 1/2 stars but I gave it 4 stars because of Pai Mei.
FOTWL is another Shaw Brothers classic choreographed by Lau Kar Leung and directed by Lo Lieh. Bizarre, it almost mirrors Lau Kar Leung's own Executioners From Shaolin. Some viewers have disliked it because it was basically a remake, however, Lau Kar Leung's fight choreography in FOTWL is more complex and entertaining and worth a try. The English dub calls the Lotus Chief's deadly technique, the "Hundred Pace Palm" which sounds really cool, the English subtitles call it the "Soul Catching Fist" which sounds cool too.
A real top-notch kung fu movie loaded with superstars Lo Lieh, Gordon Liu and Wang Lung Wei, who tore up the screen. This movie has it all: shapes, humor, costumes and a beautiful finale. A collector's item indeed.

This is an excellent movie. It is definitely worth seeing. Gordon Liu rarely disappoints.
This was a superb old school classic!! Gordon Liu is fantastic in this one. The White Priest of the Lotus Clan was an excellent villain. This made the fight sequences above average for this genre. I recommend this classic to everyone's! It is a must see Shaw Bros. movie!

This is a film I can watch over and over and never get tired of. I recommend buying this one for sure. I would rate this a 10.
I remember watching this on TV when I was younger, and to this day it is one of the best.
I had seen the dubbed version several years ago, and thought it an enjoyable but unexceptional film with good martial arts choreography. Now that I have seen it in its original form I feel very differently. Liu Chia-hui/Lau Kar Fei gives a performance worthy of his martial arts skills. Lo Lieh's direction of a familiar story is first rate, and his performance here as Pai Mei, while not superior to that he gave in "Executioners from Shaolin," is very fine.
[The remastered, original language version is] the version to see if one wants something more than a pleasant diversion.

When I think of the "old school", this is the first movie that pops in my head. Gordon Liu was phenomenal in so many movies, but this one takes the cake. It's the original "fight the bad guy, lose, go back and train, fight again, lose, go back and win" movie (at least, there should be more of those films)... There is nothing better than Gordon Liu kicking some ass with Liu Chia-Liang telling him what to do!

Not a bad film--interesting to see and learn about white brows kung fu style, but it can become very repetitive in the fight and the training sequences.
Classic kung-fu film.
The movie has a very good story and good fight and training scenes.
This the first martial arts movie I ever bought, and I was hooked.
A classic fom an era where there was no "flying kung fu". A masterpiece.
