I didn't expect much from this film. It is a cult movie. Lots of random violence as the Zero Woman infiltrates the bad guys to solve her case using the red cuffs.

Not a great movie, but recommended for those that are into cult classic movies.

Hardcore action kill 'em all. Miki Sugimoto gets a turn with the Zero Woman persona and gives it 100 percent. Everybody in this movie is utterly evil and totally morally bankrupt, even the cops are crooks. This is definitely the most wild of all the "Zero Woman" movies, probably being made in the 70s really helped give it that hard edge. Also this is the most colorful of all the "Zero Woman" movies, again helped out by being made in the 70s when exploitation was gritty and vibrant. Definitely taking cues from "Lady Snowblood", but in reality more films should. If you like exploitation actioners that take no prisoners, this is your kind of movie.

The "Zero Woman" movies rock and this is a great addition to the franchise. The plot involves the inadvertent kidnapping of a high ranking and aspiring politician's daughter by a low class gang of hooligans who molest her and hold her for ransom. Zero Wowan is pardoned from jail to save the girl and kill the extortionists secretly, but many "Infernal Affairs" twists take place and it's hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys as events unfold. Lots of gratuitous sex, nudity, bondage, and violence keep this flick moving right along.

If you have not seen "Zero Woman: Red Handcuffs", what are you waiting for?! ORDER IT NOW!!!

Forget what you know of the Zero Woman films, okay? Miki Sugimoto is the real deal. She plays a hard nose female cop (super cool!) who gets sent to jail for being...a little too enthusiastic about her job. I.E. she shoots a Dutch diplomat who has been raping women in the crotch. She gets offered a chance at redemption by a cop named Nagumo, played to the hilt by Tetsuro Tamba, she has to infiltrate a gang of kidnappers who have snatched the daughter of the next Prime Minister of Japan.

She joins the gang by saving their boss from being killed by the cops but the other members don't trust her and precede torture her, while she is naked and handcuff to a pole, to find out if she is a plant by the cops but our lady does not crack.

When the baddies leave she manages to escape her bonds with a cleverly concealed hairpin lock pick(?) and kill the female member of the gang, named the Madame Sesum played by Yôko Mihara, who tries to seduce her.

She convinces the rest of the gang that Sesum was going to betray them that they should move the girl, at which point the movie really starts to take off.

This is the ultimate in "Pinky Violence" films.

The film does have a lot of serious violence and scenes of torture and rape but if this does not bother you in a film, buckle up, because you are in for one wild ride.

Everything you heard about this infamous film is true. Insanely violent and lurid film about a gang of vicious thugs who spend their days raping and murdering anyone who gets in their way. When they kidnap the daughter of a very important political figure, Rei, the 'Zero Woman' is sprung from jail to assist in the capture of these men. For Rei, 'capture' is the same as 'kill', and she does so, with a vengeance. Yukio Noda directs this one like a madman, but never misses a chance to incorporate amazing camera angles and symbolic colors into the endless line of rape and bloodshed. The best thing about this one however, has to be the Zero Woman herself. Miki Sugimoto is absolutely amazing as the vigilante cop. Sporting a red coat, with matching red gun and red handcuffs, she slices her way through scene after brutal scene. And even though she is constantly beaten and raped, her makeup is always perfect. The gang of criminals is portrayed like a pack of rabid wolves, and the sadism is on such a high level at times that I felt a bit queasy in the stomach. This 1974 film is nothing like the 'Zero Woman' films from the 90's. The region 1 U.S. dvd is beautifully packaged in a seperate cardboard collectible box, and sound and picture quality is top! Recommended viewing for fans of violent cop dramas and 'pink' films.
