Sergio Martino's giallo debut which sets the tone for what to expect from a classic giallo: Edwige Fenech, George Hilton, naked ladies, a dense plot full of twists and turns, swinging early '70s European backgrounds, and a haunting bleak score. It's all here for you.
The movie does start out a bit slow. It takes a good twenty minutes for the movie to really get going, but when it does it goes like a freight train. It also has some of my favorite cinematography of any giallo--the scenes in the park and the parking garage being my two favorite. Not as gory or as brutally violent as later gialli, more like giallo training wheels--a good introduction to the unique subgenre before you dive into the deep end. |
