The Death Duel Of Kung Fu All Content Used With Permission. ![]() Good movie. I think John Liu Chung Liang, who is such a great fighter, could've been in better movies had he been with Shaw Brothers Studio. ![]() Any old school movie fan should have this, and if you are a fan any of the actors then it's a must. Fights are very well choreographed and the cast fights very crispy. Two thumbs up for Meng Hoi and Chien Yuet Sang. The movie itself can be at times very boring, but it's saved by the many fight scenes. Check out Wong Tao, Han Ying, and John Liu--usually I don't like John Liu's style, except for his performances in this one and "Secret Rivals 2". ![]() This is one of the best films starring John Liu and Wong Tao. The kung fu is superb, with a lot of bootwork; and the bad guy (not Hwang Jang Lee) is pretty good and really fast. Even Wong Tao gets to show off his Tae Kwon Do kicking skills. This film is nearly plotless but has a great many cool fights. ![]() "Death Duel of Kung Fu" is another fun teaming of John Liu and Wong Tao. It is no "Secret Rivals" or "Hot, Cool and the Vicious" but is still entertaining and action packed. Some of the plot elements are similar to the “The Secret Rivals” so it almost seems like a rehash. The martial arts action is above average but it always seems like the heroes fight the same three henchmen with the same three weapons the entire movie. Phillip Ko is no Hwang Jang Lee but is villainous and talented enough to require a double team. The western film score and shots of the hero walking alone along the countryside are quite cool. John Liu and Wong Tao are charismatic actors and talented martial artists so I recommend the film based on their performances. The film is a solid bargin buy.
![]() ![]() You can't go wrong when you buy a movie that has both Wang Tao and John Liu. The fight scenes in this movie are excellent. I'm also giving it five stars to make up for the review that gave it two stars because of the villain's hairdo. ![]() I give this movie 2 stars only [out of 5], merely for gravity of content in the storyline. The cinematography is also excellent. The guy who played the villain is so fake and stupid looking, they probably didn't even need him. His costumes and make-up, especially his hair do, are crap looking. I wish they'd use either Lo Lieh, Hwang Jang Lee or Chang Yi as the main villain. Wang Tao and John Liu are excellent nonetheless. Like I said, great story, Wang and John's prestige holds up the film, but it loses out with the guy playing the villain. Overall, it is crap, I'm dumping it, 'cause it's not what I like or wanted. Sorry John and Wang, I love you guys, but I just have to trash this one.
![]() The Death Duel Of Kung Fu stars Don Wang Tao and the third best leg kicker in kung fu movie history, gives up some of the most spectacular, the best, kung fu fight scenes on film. I expected nothing less! ![]() ![]() John Liu and Don Wong Tao are in great form in this action packed film! There is never a dull moment with plenty of LONG Kung Fu fights. The story is alright but the strong cast and great fighting makes this a must for Liu and Wong Tao fans!! ![]() This film should of been re-titled "Secret Rivals 3" to gain a wider audience. The fight scenes are excellent, the backdrops stunning and the plot is good enough for all 3 Secret Rivals stars to meet up in the excellent finale...5/5 Highly Recommended. ![]() Its very rare that you can find a kung fu movie with anyone doing preying mantis, let alone good preying mantis. This movie has THE best Mantis I have ever seen in any kung fu movie, and has many many fight scenes witch move at a fast fluid pace with very little choppiness in the action. The other outstanding thing about this movie is the weapon fight scenes, more often than not when attacking with weapons against an unarmed opponent the fights look fake with the person stabbing and slashing at the air instead of the person, I was pleasantly surprised with the kwondo fight scenes, excellent movie, and if your looking for a preying mantis kung fu movie LOOK NO FURTHER ! Excellent movie!
