| Effective and creepy suspense thriller--it's a bit tough to call this a horror movie, although some of the themes of organ-snatching are horrific enough. I've always been a little paranoid about the organ donor sticker on my driver's license. It is completely irrational but you hear those tales about kidney thieves and black market organs and I have to admit a little fear about being carved up while still alive for my guts like I am on display at a meat market. This movie does an excellent job of tapping into that paranoia and in a roundabout way it could be seen as a horror movie where I saw it as a thriller.
Some of the gun fights were almost funny, with no deadpan they act, which maybe is an insight into the particular character that makes him a Dirty Harry style badass, but it was rather funny to see his "shoot first and then shrug about it later" attitude that I think felt a little out of place in the movie. All in all good, creepy and worth the watch, especially if you have a donor sticker on your driver's license. |
