Ambitious but uneven mystery thriller. It had some "Mulholland Drive" going for it with memory loss and murder, but as the movie continued on I think it began to lose ground as it got too confused. The ending wasn't very spectacular, it was one of two options the film really had to go with.

All in all, not bad. You must give some credit to the filmmaker for trying something different, but in the end it just didn't have that special Lynchian "it" to make it spellbinding.

Korean movie about an investigative reporter who's suffering a bad head trauma due to a car accident. Beautifully and meticulously shot, lit and framed, Spider Forest tries hard to reel the viewer in to a Hitchcockian psycho-thriller of sorts, but the narrative is just too damn convoluted to become really gripping. With a creepy forest, a jigsaw storyline that seems to meander all over the place, acceptable yet somewhat bland acting, and impressive cinematography, the movie reminded me of my rich uncle's yacht: impressive but ultimately only eliciting profound indifference.
