Plot:An arrogant chef hits the skids when his cooking empire is usurped by a mean-spirited rival. He's saved by the true love and good cooking of a street vendor whose food heals the sick. The two conspire to regain power by besting their foes in a cook-off.
Overview:The God Of Cookery (Stephen Chow) is the self-proclaimed God of Cookery, an arrogant, greedy, master chef that enjoys collecting royalties from doing TV spots and endorsing products. He is loved by the media and people flock to enjoy his delights, but he is much more of a legend inside his own mind. One day, Stephen takes on an ambitious apprentice that proves to be his downfall. The understudy takes advantage of Chow at a ceremony and eventually becomes the new "God of Cookery". Everyone forgets about Chow and he becomes poor, homeless, and left to the streets.

The former God of Cookery finds salvation when he meets up with a disfigured street vendor, Sister Turkey (Karen Mok disguised in hideous make-up). Sister Turkey was an admirer and fan of Stephen when he was the God of Cookery. With new inspiration, Stephen sets out to regain his place in society. His rise back to the top begins with a new cooking invention called "pissing beef balls" and ends with his divine masterpiece, "sorrowful rice", which he concocts in the finale against his arch nemesis in the God of Cookery comepetition.

There are some outrageous moments in this movie: Stephen is reunited with a girl he had a crush on in high school that turns out to be an overweight, unshaven, guy in a school girl's uniform. In another scene, Stephen is nearly murdered but ends up at a Shaolin monestary, where he is constantly beaten into a bloody pulp by the 18 Bronzemen, who seem to enjoy beating him down with nearby furniture rather than kung-fu.
