I had heard this movie was good, but WOW!

All of the performances are great. Yang Yun-Ho's direction is wonderful and keeps the film at a good, enjoyable pace. The fact that this film is based on a true story really gets me, even if it is embelished. The plot begins to deteriorate towards the end, but finds its center again and continues to please. Although the action scenes are often short or in montage, they’re all really fun to watch. The fighters are good and the choreography is a great example of Jung Doo-Hung's fight choreography.

I've read that this film is less true to Mas Oyama's real life than it would seem, making him more anti-Japanese than he actually was, but that doesn't matter all that much. It's a well written, very well directed adventure with believable performers and great cinematography.

I don't know what I would have thought of the real Mas Oyama, but I admire this one very much!

YI completely agree. This movie reverse punched its way into my top 25 favorite martial arts flicks and I think it's going to be there for a while.Bastard Ronin

That's what's up. These days I'm hard pressed to actually see a bad Korean movie. I'm not even sure that I've seen a Korean movie that I didn't like at all. This tasty treat is the semi-biographical story of Choi Bae-dul, a Korean man with a background in Taekkyon and street scrappin', who later becomes Mas Oyama, the founder of Kyokushin Karate- one of the ass-kickingest hardcore forms of Karate around.

I got to say I loved this film. It fills me full of urges to travel the world to kick fighters in the neck and skull area. Some reviewers are saying it is not up to par with "Ong-Bak" and "Tom Yum Goong", but it's kind of an apple/oranges kind of thing. "Fighter In The Wind" may not have as many fights as those two mentioned, but there is undeniable quality in the fights that are present. It also has an excellent story that has good demension and progression. Man, this dude absorbs enough wounds and punishment through his lifetime that it would make John McClane pee a little.

It is possible that martial artists might dig this flick a little more than non martial artists, but don't quote me on that, just give it a try. To sum up: great fights, great story, and a great movie. Should you have need of a bastard in the near future, holla atcha' boy.

A fascinating movie about the formative years of Choi Baedal who later took on the name Mas Oyama. I'm glad to have seen this version first. Now I'm wondering if Sonny Chiba's version is any good.

Wow, what a terrific film this is. When I bought it I did not know much about it, but am very glad I did get it.

The story moves along at a good pace, with plebty of action scenes! A very heartfelt story. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes a good story and acton.

The best movie about martial arts in the world. The fighting arts never seen before, masterpieces and new philosophy for those who want to train to become martial artists.

Very assured filmmaking. Great cinematography, thrilling fight scenes, and a kick-ass soundtrack (well, most of it). Plus, Aya Hirayama is impossibly cute. One of my favorite recent Korean movies.

I actually had high hopes when I purchased this movie. But, as with many martial arts films, the only highlights of the movie were the actual fights. The story itself created no real tension or drama. You plodded along through the downtime just praying that the next fight would come along soon. And while the fights were good, none of them were very long. So, while the film is not bad per se, anyone looking for the next Ong-Bak or anything of that nature will be sorely disappointed here. This is for die-hard martial arts fans only.

This movie has a lot of good acting but other than that the action sequences are well below par if you compare with movies such as "Fearless" or "Tom Yum Goong".

This is a amazing film. It's got martial arts, drama, and romance. I like how it's put together, the way they shot the film, its fantastic. The lead actor gives a great performance of how talented he is. Also it has some beautiful locations and perfect music to go with it.
