This offers more of the same presented in the first film, although there is less slapstick and a somewhat darker mood. The patriot, fighter, and mother-obsessed warrior Fong Sai Yuk continues to fight the Qing, with less help from his co-conspirators than he would like.

A worthy follow-up, with all of the elements that made the first FSY so enjoyable. A must-see!

Unfortunately, this isn't as good as Fong Sai-yuk. The comedy seems too much like what Wong Jing would have done, and doesn't really mix well with the more serious scenes.

The action is still good, but far too much wirework from my point of view. In fairness, it is very well choreographed, especially Jet Li's final battle with Chi Chuen-hua. Jet Li's blindfolded swordfight is also an especially impressive set piece.

Li's performance is good, as (of course) is Josephine Siao, returning to again steal the show as his mother. Watch out for her Miyamoto Musashi impression. Yuen Kwai himself has a nice supporting role, as one of the Red Flower Society, and the beautiful Amy Kwok comes in as a love rival to Fong's wife, Michelle Reis. Neither girl has that much to do, but they do look good doing it!

The plot pretty much concerns Chi Chuen-hua's attempt at wresting control of the Red Flower Society from Adam Cheng, and Jet Li's attempt at stopping this.

So, definitely not a bad film, but not quite a great one either. However, there is still plenty to enjoy.

The bottom line about this movie is that it's enjoyable. As a Jet Li fan, I was definitely satisfied after watching it. That being said, I must say that it wasn't as good as the first Fong Sai Yuk film, in my opinion.

The film is a continuation of the first Fong Sai Yuk film, otherwise known as The Legend. The whole film, like the first one, focuses around the action sequences, the comedy of Jet Li, and the comedy of the mother character.

Actually, I was once again surprised by Jet's ability to play a comic character. His facial expressions alone were enough to make me chuckle out loud at times. It's a good example of how Jet is more than an electrifying action star and martial artist, but a great actor as well.

Jet's comic ability, and the satisfactory fight scenes are what save this movie from falling below average. I found much of the plot to be weak, and the situation of Jet having the double romance was a tad bizarre. I even found the comedy of the mother to be quite thin most of the time. But don't look for a strong plot in this film, just check out the cool action sequences, although the rely a great deal on wires.

In summary-cool flick, nice watch. Not a classic, though.
