 | | | | I saw this movie when I was a kid and fell in love with it, and even though I'm older now I still love this film as much as I did then. First of all, this is a Hong Kong adaptation of the City Hunter anime, but I've never seen the anime so I can't comment on that. The movie itself however is very funny and extremely goofy, never boring the audience for a minute. The film has a lot of memorable scenes, but the Street Fighter scene is probably what you're going to remember the most. The Bruce Lee homage is also funny and especially gets you smiling if you're a huge kung fu fan like me. For some people, the action may not be as hardcore as some of Chan's other films, but it certainly doesn't disappoint. I love this movie and would recommend it all the way. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Not easy to fill the rather imposing animated shoes of Ryo Saeba in live action, and truly Jackie Chan is the only one who can. Very much a live action cartoon complete with sound effects. As a fan of the City Hunter anime I was very amused by it and can fully understand why fans of more traditional kung-fu movies and even more traditional Jackie Chan movies might be rather disappointed by this. More slapstick comedy than kung-fu film--if you go into it understanding this what you get is a really funny movie with some decent fights and decent gunplay. While it doesn't capture Ryo's character exactly, it hits Kaori and Saeko on the head. Very funny and amusing movie, if not the greatest kung-fu movie out there; but Jackie's ever present charisma really helps shine the rougher edges of the film. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Oofa...what a train wreck. This movie is about as compelling as watching Jackie order breakfast. The silliness was TOO silly and pointless and the references to such things as "Street Fighter II" seemed like they were tacked on in order to find some kind of group to appeal to. Not Jackie's best by a long shot... | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | This is a fun movie but a bit too silly. The characters are not strong or developed. The story is weak. The action is the only thing that keeps this movie going. Recommended for Jackie Chan lovers only. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Since [the Fox US DVD I bought included] the original Cantonese dialogue and was affordable, I decided to add it to my large collection of other Jacke Chan films. As it turns out, the action and humor was ok, but I found myself enjoying more his older work, such as "Fearless Hyena" or "Snake in the Eagle's Shadow." mainly because I'm very fascinated when he uses all sorts of intricate styles with cool-sounding names. None the less, I was entertained enough by this one, and didn't regret adding it to my collection. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | This movie is way too ridiculous and silly to be taken seriously in any respect. But that is why I love it so dearly. I find myself re-watching this film all the time. It's way too much fun to pass up. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | A bit of fun, not a usual Jackie Chan movie. I like anime so the film had an added elment that I enjoy. The street fighter scene had me in fits of laughs for ages, every one I have shown that scene to has found it funny. OH! the action is pretty good. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

| I've read quite a few negative reviews by Jackie Chan fans and being one myself, wasn't eager to watch this movie. After I finally saw it I realized why some didn't like it. Well, it's not exactly "a Jackie Chan film". It's a Wong Jing movie with Jackie Chan in it.
But it's a pretty good movie, I must admit. Probably, it's THE funniest Jackie Chan movie. I'm not a big fan of HK comedies, but watching this flick I laughed a lot! Sometimes, the combination of action and comedy was just brilliant. Another aspect that I really liked was the look of the movie. Gorgeous women, colorful villains, good cameos, beautiful interiors - it was an eye-candy. Some reminders of a great Girls-With-Guns genre.
I didn't mind over-the-top acting, which was just right for this kind of a movie. The only thing I didn't like was weird gag with the arcade game .I sat through this whole scene wondering, "What the hell that's supposed to mean?!Live adaptation of "Street fighter"?What's the point?" Really, I didn't get it.
As for pure Jackie Chan action - there was some. The only complaint about it - very bad doubling for Richard Norton.
Overall, - great mix of comedy and action, lots of fun and beautiful girls!!! |

 | | | | | PI playboy Ryu Saeba (Jackie Chan) is contracted to look for a Japanese runaway; in the process, he ends up on a luxury liner about to be seized by Col. MacDonald "of the U.S. Commandos" and his Ninja thugs (who dress in red instead of black, I guess for invisibility in case of a bloodbath). Pratfalls, silly fantasy sequences, and goofy sound effects make for a high cringe-factor. Still, some of the set-pieces are inspired -- especially when Jackie and two skateboard buddies fight a blond kung-fu villain by transforming the situation into a real life video game. | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |

 | | | | Lots have been written about this splendid number, cartoon-esque adaptation of the Japanese manga City Hunter. Starring Jackie Chan, Joey Wang, Chingmy Yau, Richard Norton, and Komiko Goto, this is a fun ride filled with great action, sight gags and loads of girl-fu and gals-and-guns for folks like me. Chingmy in tights, touting a gun and Joey kicking butt---hey, keeps my interest. Two thumbs up, mates! | | LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW! |
