| Jerry (Jackie Chan) works helping his father at his restaurant in the day and roller skating in midnight matches. He becomes involved with a powerful gang when his brother's finacee is kidnapped. She won't be returned unless he purposely throws the fight to the gangsters. Uncle is played by the multi--talented Mako, a veteran all purpose *Asian* actor in Hollywood for at least three decades.
In his overwhelming desperation to find another Bruce Lee, Clause missed the talents of Jackie completely.
Everyone, including Jackie had their own ideas they insisted were the only way to go. The result was a big time movie mess. And Warner Brothers was backing it until something, who knows?, and pulled out of the deal. No one paid any attention to continuity, wardrobe, props, product placement, the set or much of anything else. But there are some good points too. Jackie manages to use his acrobatic skills and usual fight with what you have style. He pulls off some unique moves while looking cool. Jackie insisted on bringing in his of own stuntmen to fight men. That did help but you still have the feeling life has become slow motion.
* To those who have stated that Jackie "hates" this movie, Jackie says that about EVERY movie that he did not direct, produce, head choreographer, etc. Jackie wants and usually receives everything and more that he needs. |

Overall a decent Jackie Chan movie. It's a typical one. There's comedy, drama, action, some romance and martial arts. It kind of builds up from loads of comedic martial arts action to serious martial arts action at the end fight scene with Jackie and big no holds barred fighters. I enjoyed its entertainment and it's a totally enjoyable Jackie Chan film for anyone. It's a shame I didnt watch this movie when I was younger, but now that I have I know more of what Jackie was and still is capable of. A decent typical Jackie Chan movie overall.-JL27179 (see my profile) LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!
To the person who gave this film thumbs up. Jackie hated this film and i hate this film. In fact I think everyone who has watched jackie chans hong kong films, hate this film. The fights were slow and badly done. True the humour was ok, but did you wear ear muffs to keep the music from driving you insane? Watch Young master or dragon lord or Druken master. The movies that were done before this one!-mark wright LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!
Being this my 1st time reviewing a movie I'll be brief.
...I have no clue why anyone would give this movie anything else but a great thumbs up. Fantasy filled with great acrobatics and humor--I have not seen many Jackie Chan movies, but this is one of my favorites. I have lost count of how many times I have seen it and I liked it every time. Sad to say that I cannot find the English version of it, [which] is not distributed any more I find when I have tried to order it.
I wish Jackie would have it re released in US theaters now , I saw this when I was a teenager for the 1st time . Many, many people have no clue it exists. -Jorge Gonzalez LOG IN TO COMMENT ON THIS REVIEW!
