"First Kiss" doesn't contain much of a romance comedy. Just a set up and a long wait where nothing happens. Choi Ji-Woo wears glasses and men's clothing for 99% of the movie and you're never sure whether Ahn Jae-Wuk is really gay, borderline, bi, switching teams, you just don't know why he doesn't pull the trigger when it comes to Ji-Woo. Some mild diversions arise when they interview a bunch of actresses with too much makeup on but those are fleeting and don't flesh out the plot. Basically they've both never kissed and Jae-Wuk thinks Ji-Woo would look better without her glasses but "She's All That," this is not. Both their problems could have been easily solved in 30 minutes by playing "Truth or Dare" or "Twister." |
