Picture: Average print with this special edition. The print is mostly sharp though clearly could do with a clean up. A few signs of wear are very obvious at certain parts of the film with notable grain and stock damage. The blacks and whites are reasonable, but hardly impressive. A classic film deserving of a proper remaster.

Sound: Japanese soundtrack with English/Chinese subtitles (removable). The audio track is adequate, but does have some damage and dulled sound. The subtitles occasionally slow down and fail to catch up with the audio for a couple of minutes.

Trailers: None.

Extras: Biography and Filmography for Ozu and a commentary by critics Shu Kei and Shu Ming (in Cantonese). Included in the DVD box is a 'Tokyo Story' poster, collectible handbill with analysis of the film and a stills collection.
