Sword in the Moon is the story of two friends on either side of a coup d'etat. One, Choi Ji-hwan (Choi Min-soo), is sworn to protect the king, one, Yun Gyu-yub (Jo Jae-hyeon), is forced into trying to overthrow him and install a new one. When the coup is successful, Choi, thought to have been killed, is rescued and recuperates. Eventually, he becomes an assassin who ends up murdering all the ministers responsible for the extremely bloody coup. It's up to his former friend to find and stop him. The ending, however, is left unquestioningly ambiguous.

I really enjoyed Sword in the Moon, though it was slightly more "talky" than one would think such a ubiquitous action movie might be. Not that there isn't a lot of action, just that it comes in nicely packaged sections. It was still thoroughly exciting and graphic for all fans of this type of film (think Musa-style, sword-play action). There are so many decapitations that even Jeffrey Dahmer would be embarrassed by his own lack of "numbers".
