| GOZU is a yakuza film filled with bizzare characters and drenched in a nightmarish stew that could only be the work of Takashi Miike (or an acid fuelled collaboration between David Lynch and Kinji Fukasaku!).
Frequent Miike collaborator Sho Aikawa plays the boss' mentally unsound right-hand man. After a little incident involving what he calls "yakuza dogs", it's decided that he must be eliminated. This task falls to a man whose life he once saved. To say that things don't go as planned is an enormous understatement! What follows are a string of freakish people and acts, including a man with a fake skin condition, overbearing lactating women, cow-headed apparitions, and one of the foulest deserts ever eaten! Not recommended for viewers with weak stomachs or people that require a linear storyline. But if you have a taste for the grotesque, enjoy a little horror, and want to see something "different"... this is YOUR movie. |
