ABOUT THE DIRECTOR: Chang Youn-Hyun
"If the films I have made up to now are music videos with a story, then Some is a violent collision of images to create hard rock."
With two films, CHANG Youn-hyun has become known as one of the Korean film industry's most talented stylists.Comfortable in both the melodrama and thriller genres, his unusual emotional sense and style has given him both critical and popular success, such that the mere fact of him taking up the megaphone for the first time in five years has made Some an object of much discussion. In particular, the use of visual motifs connected with deja-vu flashbacks is a first in Korean film history, and promises to provide visuals and imagery such as have never been seen in Korea before.
Some is a large-scale product of three years of development and two years of writing. After taking a producer credit on such films as FlowerIsland, Wild Card and R-Point over the past five years, director Chang has at last taken up the megaphone again. |
