Technical Notes:Haute Tension [Uncut Korean SE 2-Disc Set]

The movie is awesome, but the behavior of the DVD is bizarre. Firstly, if you hit play on the menu, the edited version of the film is played with all the graphic bits of gore taken out. This led me to believe that the uncut version was not on the disc, but it is. You have to manually select title: 2 with your remote. The fully uncut version is title 2. Why did they hide the better version of the movie? Secondly, the layer transfer happens in the milddle of the kill scene at the gas station, a really dumb place to put it. And third, the special features are not subtitled in English. Even with all these problems, it is nice to have a region zero version of the film that is uncut and subtitled.
[NOTE: This note refers only to the edited version (Title 3) of the film. A complete, unedited version is also included, but hidden, on this DVD (Title 2).]
Whatever you do, do not buy this version! It is cut, and cut badly. I purchased this version...and when I watched it, it was quite obvious that it was edited. Every time there is violence about to happen, the picture freezes and jumps ahead a few seconds. I have the uncut, unedited version from England and that version is definitely not the version that is on this Korean 2-disc set. Stay far, far away from this one.
So far the only uncut versions seem to be the Thai dubbed version, the Hong Kong version, and the U.K. Optimum version.
The shorter running time on this version seems to be due primarily to it being sourced from a PAL format master.
