A true masterpiece. Dark, funny, bizarre, a surreal knife in the groin--Miike doesn't get better than this, nor does anyone else. On my all time top 10.

One of the very few Takashi Miike films I've seen that didn't "click" with me. Maybe I've just overdosed on Miike recently, but this one really seems like more of the same, but not as good. *shrugs*

David Lynch gone to Buddhist Hell no doubt about it. This is one of those movies that you really can't try and figure out, you just have to roll with the surrealist punches. Distinctly Miike and a ton of fun to watch if you are a fan of David Lynch or of just plain weird movies in general.

A Yakuza trip to the end of the rabbit hole. Great special effects. I found it boring at times, yet a great film, very reminiscent of the work of David Lynch.

GOZU is a yakuza film filled with bizzare characters and drenched in a nightmarish stew that could only be the work of Takashi Miike (or an acid fuelled collaboration between David Lynch and Kinji Fukasaku!).

Frequent Miike collaborator Sho Aikawa plays the boss' mentally unsound right-hand man. After a little incident involving what he calls "yakuza dogs", it's decided that he must be eliminated. This task falls to a man whose life he once saved. To say that things don't go as planned is an enormous understatement! What follows are a string of freakish people and acts, including a man with a fake skin condition, overbearing lactating women, cow-headed apparitions, and one of the foulest deserts ever eaten! Not recommended for viewers with weak stomachs or people that require a linear storyline. But if you have a taste for the grotesque, enjoy a little horror, and want to see something "different"... this is YOUR movie.
