| the films story is a bit nosensical. in terms, rubber's Lover is primarily about scientists who are experimenting with telepathy and/or telekenesis in which most cases go wrong and their patients go obliviously insane. of course things deteriorate when one particular patient is able to balance his mental powers and finds means to avenge himself for the torture that was brought upon him.
personally, i loved Rubber's Lover for it's horrific and cyberpunk elements. technology and flesh bonding and dependency for gaining knowledge is my guilty pleasurable aspects when it comes to films like these. i also like the ultra-violence portrayed in this film as well. the blood and mayhem has a surreal effect due to the fact the film is in black and white, making it somewhat believable.
i'm in a quandry as to whether you will like Rubber's Lover or not. i can only say that it is a film worth checking out if you like cyberpunk films (although this films aspects doesn't focus on technology, it focuses primarly on telepathy) and if you like ultra violence. the pacing of the film is like a Takashi Miike film, slow but is able to suddenly suprise you with shocking images that are either awe0inspiring or completely repulsive. I loved it, but i recommend getting a 22nd opinion. |
