The Lady Hermit All Content Used With Permission. ![]() If, like me, you're a big fan of Cheng Pei Pei, then you'll be in for a treat with this Shaw Brothers classic. I think it's certainly up there with all her other great movies--her acting and swordplay are amazing. I also think Shih Szu is quite handy with a sword, and let's not forget Lo Lieh--he's always great. I found the film very entertaining from start to finish and would highly recommend buying this great wuxia flick.
![]() Very good. ![]() This is my first Cheng Pei Pei film and I must say...boy am I late to the party. I loved this film! Her performance was as classy as they come. Cheng Pei Pei plays a fighter who has been in hiding sense suffering an injury when she attempted to make an arrogant bully repent. Along comes Shih Szu looking for to make Cheng Pei Pei her teacher. Of course Pei Pei gets outed, unintentionally, and she must once again deal with this bully. This of course in an older film, way before the flash and dazzle of the Venoms and even before the true power and grace of a Ti Lung or Chen Kuan Tai but it was still very enjoyable. Cheng Pei Pei looked great in the fight scenes and one thing she brings to the table a lot of other martial arts actors/actresses don't...she really can act. Highly recommended film.
![]() Cheng Pei Pei, Lo Lieh, Shih Szu fight and love all against the Black Demon. Waves and waves of the Black Demon's foot-soldiers get sliced aside. The coolest scene is at a country cafe, with Cheng Pei Pei knocking two chopsticks into the eyes of a thug. Old school swordplay at its best. -DarkHumour (see my profile) ![]() This is probably my favourite of Cheng Pei Pei's wuxia films. Her grace with a sword is simply unnparalleled. Shih Szu is also brilliant--both these ladies knew how to handle their weapons. The strong story and intricate, flowing action scenes combine to form a true martial arts classic. ![]() Great movie! Outstanding performances by two kung fu divas: Cheng Pei-Pei and Shih Szu. Both very pleasant to look at and very skilled! Plenty of action. Great classic. Good storyline. Good performance also by Lo Lieh. Beautiful sets as usual for Shaw movies. Look for Cliff Lok in a secondary role. A must-see in my humble view. If you don't like this movie, you're simply not a fan of the genre! -Roger Judd, Jr. (see my profile) ![]() Unusual story with a love triangle incorporated into the martial arts/ revenge plot line. Cheng Pei is great as an actress and martial artist. The martial arts choreography is particularly good in this film with the standout scene in the end where Pei Pei's character climbs up the temple. Good story and great martial arts.
