I really thought this would be a hard-hitting action movie as I saw from the previews. There were a lot of boring parts as well as some comedy. Not my pick for a must-see movie.

[Warning: contains spoilers.] Good action! Lo Mang died though, oh well, it's not the first time! Ha!

Loved it. Exciting fight scenes. I could watch it over and over. Simple plot and simple movie. But fantastic.

The fight scenes are fantastic in this flick, but there's just too much talking and a lack of action in the middle to give this one 5 stars. As others have mentioned, the lion dancing sequence isn't very long and not hard to sit through. I recommend this movie, but have some patience up to the lion dance scene. From then on it's all out action.

If it's an all encompassing screen gem you want, then look no further than the absolute masterpiece that is "Lion Vs. Lion." Ignore naysayers stating that the lion dancing lets the movie down. There is ONE lion dancing scene and it's incredible. I'm not one for copious examples of these festivities, but "Lion Vs. Lion" executes this inclusion with gracious ease.

In my opinion this Shaw Brothers effort has everything. If you want drama, comedy, some mild horror and some of the most incredible action committed to film then you have it.

The plot may be somewhat on the thin side but it's held together by a superb ensemble.

Lo Meng plays an ex-peace keeper who leaves his team due to their corrupt ways. He meets up with a conman and together they end up protecting a very important document many people are out to get.

On the way we have fantastic scenery, costumes and some fairly engaging character development.

Of course, it's the action we all want and this movie delivers...ten fold. The last, say, thirty minutes alone is a half hour dedicated to bringing us, the viewer, an incredible viewing experience. Weapons and hand to hand combat like none you've ever seen seamlessly blend into each other. It's mind bogglingly entertaining.

Even the change of pace after what is essentially the final fight is welcome or at least I thought so despite what others may say.

Yes, I have gripes with "Lion Vs. Lion" but to air them would be to post major spoilers. I suppose I can simply say "Why?" and those that have viewed this masterpiece will know exactly what I'm talking about.

All in all this is ballistic perfection and should not be looked over.

Yeah, the action is great and that's the entertainment that I expect in this sort of film. So I liked it.

I too, like some other reviewers, am no big fan of lion dancing, as I find it very boring. That being said this title deserves 3.5 stars because it does have some great fights. As a couple reviewers have mentioned as well, there is one fight scene in particular that may well be the greatest old-school fight scene ever put on film; it has to be seen to believed.

The story was really stupid, but the fights were great. Although I do find the lion dance to be a bit boring (considering I've seen 1,000 of these films).

The amazing fight scene between Wang Yu and Chin Yuet Sang make this worth the purchase alone. It's one of the most amazing fight scenes I've ever seen, and certainly one of the greatest of all time put out by the Shaws. Other Martial Arts scenes by Lo Meng and company are also good and the story isn't half bad either.

I disliked this film. Stupid comedy and mediocre fights put this movie on the avoid list. But for hardcore Venoms fans, you should see this for Lo Meng.

The centrepiece of this film, as the title suggests, is not your standard fighting competition. The lion dance contest is really quite compelling. Unlike Jackie Chan's "The Young Master", the two lion costumes are not identical, and each has a unique dancing style.

"Lion vs. Lion" is like the martial arts version of "The Odd Couple": a righteous fighter (Lo Meng) and a lazy con man (Wang Yue) put aside their differences to help a patriotic cause. A list of anti-Ching rebel names is sought after by Chings and Mings alike. The plots-within-plots technique employed by some martial arts movies is confusingly evident here. Just try to keep up with who you think you're supposed to identify with.

Fortunately, like most Shaw Brothers films, the fight scenes are worth your time and efforts to keep up with the narrative. Lo Meng looks incredible in "Lion vs. Lion", and Wang Yue is always entertaining. It's a shame they didn't do more movies together, because some chemistry is evident.

Awesome fighting...just blows you away. This is an old school romp that puts Lo Meng at his absolute best! The story is equally intriguing, as Wang Lung Wei is featured (again) as the villain. BUT, you almost fear for his life as there are other bad guys who try and take him out! Awesome, awesome choreography. I'll put it this way, this is the BEST Shaw film not to feature Lau Kar Leung or the Venoms. You will not lose out purchasing this movie!!
