| Overview: | On August 25,1940, British bombers struck at Berlin, dropping their bombs on the very heart of Hitler's most prized city. Infuriated, Hitler ordered that London's people be beaten and bombed into submission. Shortly before 4:00pm on September 7th began "The Blitz". Bombers dropped their incendiaries on some of the poorest and most overcrowded streets of London. This is their story, the REAL story of the East End Blitz, the story of the evacuees, told and frighteningly re-lived by the people who were there. John Smythe, the young boy who watched the terror, Walter Higgs, who risked his life diffusing unexploded bombs, the story of the Anderson shelters and underground stations, of rationing...of horror.
