| A strange frenetic film from southeast Asia (Cambodia?). The box cover states "erotic fantasy meets martial arts action", and that's pretty much the gist of it. Actually there's not really much "erotic fantasy" involved in the plotline, but there are a few sequences featuring naked girls, so I guess that's what is being referred to.
The main plotline revolves around a mythical scenario where a vicious moon monster is reborn periodically who can only be dispatched by a virginal warrior woman. The moon monster shows up and starts killing people and the police get involved, as do a college professor and his brother.
Ultimately this comes off kind of like "Miami Vice" meets "The Devil's Sword" (from Indonesia) as police work meshes with flying sorceresses and magic lightening bolt-emitting swords. There are a lot of character and plot intricacies to follow (which aren't made any easier by the subtitles that often disappear into the white background). Still, there are machine gun battles and spirited martial arts encounters every few minutes to keep the whole show moving through to its inevitable conclusion.
I bought this DVD at HKFLIX "blowout" prices and that's about what it's worth. Still, a fantastic title! |
