Plot:	A French telegram deliverer is inadvertently abducted by a drunken sea captain. On the way home she meets a secret agent and falls in love. But when she unintentionally gets mixed up in a plot to sabotage the Panama Canal, her beau tries to save the day.
Overview:	Based on the novel by Jacques Deval, this film depicts Marie Galante, a French telegram deliverer who is inadvertently abducted by a drunken sea captain. She escapes to Yucatan and begins singing in a cafe to make her way to the Panama Canal zone and back to France. On the way there she meets Crawbett (Spencer Tracy), a secret agent who actually believes her kidnapping story. While falling in love with Marie after she unintentionally gets mixed up in a plot to sabotage the Canal, Crawbett tries to save the day.
