More loony laughs from the king of cartoons.
To Tex Avery (1908-1980), "animated cartoons" meant a world where anything can happen--for a laugh! He set the standard for screwball Hollywood cartoons in the 1940s and 50s. His films have inspired animators ever since.
This collection features the best of Avery's characters in their funniest situations. Screwball Squirrel plays hooky in "The Screwy Truant"--if he can outwit a dopey dog whom he clobbers with everything, including the kitchen sink! George and Junior, the hobo bears, become wacky Hound Hunters who only succeed in capturing themselves. Then, come on along and join The Flea Circus!
Avery also parodied his vision of the future: in The House Of Tomorrow we learn that the latest "pre-fabricated" home will include everything from electric blankets to electric chairs; and "TV Of Tomorrow" (1953) shows off the latest in family home entertainment--including a transmission from the planet Mars!
Plus, a game of Batty Baseball pits The Yankee Doodlers against The Draft Dodgers played at "W.C. Field". In the world of cartoon comedy, Tex Avery bats a 1000!
