Most of Chu Yuan's wuxen pein films are very good, filled with mystique, excellent characterization, creative weapons and fights that go along with it. This film is good, but there is asininity lurking about. I was laughing hysterically when I saw the Gene Simmons impersonator appear. That had me rolling with laughter. Exciting kung-fu mystery movie chock full of interesting characters, interesting fights, and interesting set pieces. I've said it before, but it is these kinds of twisted kung-fu movies that really make Shaw Brothers the ultimate kung-fu movie studio. Any fool can make a basic kung-fu movie--look at Jean-Claude Van Damme or Steven Seagal--but Shaw Brothers decided to do it much more lavish and colourful in addition to the top rate swordplay. Mostly anything Chu Yuan does is good. What I like about films like this is that the fights are plentiful and lack repetitiveness.
