| The lovely face of the lead female (Kim Jung-Hwa) was enough for me to pick up this title. She really has a smoldering sort of beauty with her smile and expressive eyes. Here she plays a North Korean spy named Hyo-jin who goes south in pursuit of another agent who had absconded with some operating funds.
As for the plot itself, it does have a charming sort of humor. Glancing at the snyposis on the website will tell you enough of details. I'll add that the male lead, named Gong Yoo, while introduced as a complete buffoon, does become a more sympathetic character, as the audience sees that he does have a good heart in the way he treats and respects Hyo-jin.
That Gong is a southerner and Hyo-jin is from north of the DMZ is a plot device to heighten the romantic tension, as she struggles to hide her true identity from him, so this film is not a serious commentary on North-South relations. |
