Dance Of The Drunk Mantis All Content Used With Permission. ![]() Another classic entry in the venerable "Drunken Master" series, an exceptional kung-fu movie--but what else would you expect from Yuen Wo-Ping? ![]()
![]() I think this movie should be held right up there with "Drunken Master" and "Snake in The Eagle's Shadow". Great training scenes and great fight scenes. ![]() ![]() For a Hwang Jang-Lee film, I was not impressed with it. It was too much of the same thing. ![]() Nice follow-up to "Drunken Master". I love Beggar Sneed and his funny tortures for his students. ![]() If you are a fan of drunken and mantis kung fu, you will love this movie. ![]() Hwang Jang Lee is the man and Sam Seed does his thing as usual. This movie is kind of all over the place, but since the two masters are in the film I have to give 4 stars. -Kung Fu Classic Viewer (see my profile)
![]() The unofficial sequel to "Drunken Master", this one features Simon Yuen returning as the rednosed scamp who just happens to be a top kung fu master. Not quite as brilliant as the original, but this movie still shines with great comedy, wince-inducing training sequences, and some bone jarring fight scenes. Not to be missed. ![]() I loved the shapes by Corey and co. in this one. Hwang Jang Lee performed surprisingly well considering his trademark kicking style was absent--instead his version of Northern Mantis well and truly made up for this. Everyone in this fu flick kicked a**, including Linda Lin Jing. A Yuen classic, not to be missed. -Andrew Mclean (see my profile) ![]() A weird, yet awesome, movie that I consider to be the proper sequel to "Drunken Master," as opposed to Jackie Chan's sequel. Almost the entire cast and the director are included, all except Chan. Not much of a loss there, as Corey Yuen is a really charismatic hero and excellent martial artist--not to mention Wo Ping's choreography is top notch. I loved the sequence at the beginning of "Drunken Master" featuring Corey Yuen vs. Hwang Jang Lee, and this is more of the same. ![]() ![]() Another timeless classic. Great actors, great plot, great final scene. An incredible movie, a classic in my martial arts library. ![]() ![]() Very nice old school kung fu. ![]() One of Yuen Wo Ping's more obscure films! This movie rules with Yuen's wacky voodoo kung fu garbage, and the story was typical but fun! ![]() 3 stars, okay fights, not that great. ![]() The fight scenes were really good. Honestly, the goofy comedy should've been toned down, but that doesn't take away from the nice action scenes. I love Hwang Jang Lee, he's one of my favorite boot masters, and he never fails to show off nice leg work. ![]() Dance of the Drunken Mantis is another one of those kung-fu flicks that a serious collector MUST have in his/her collection. Bottom line... Hwang-Jang-Lee (rubber legs) and Sam Seed are stellar martial artists. Don't forget the small but memorable part Linda Lin Ying plays. She's a class act! Now there are a few parts where the comedy makes this flick drag. However, don't let that deter you from checking this one out! ![]() Not as good as the original Drunken Master but it still features plenty of great fight scenes that any Wo Ping fan will enjoy. Great cast and some good slap stick humor. Worth a look for fans of the Drunken Master.
![]() Most casual viewers will be interested in this film because of the venerable Simon Yuen's appearance, or perhaps for Yuen Woo Ping's excellent direction, but the reason to watch it, many, many times, is "Sunny" Yuen's amazing performance as his father's new son. No one who truly enjoys martial arts films should have anything to complain about in this delightful picture. -Jeffrey Frawley (see my profile) ![]() Great movie. but it is far from the original classic 'Drunken Master'. Yuen Shun Yi proves he can act, do his own stunts and action. All the actors return with the exception of Jackie himself as of this time, he was still in contract with Lo Wei. Perhaps the film could have been a little better. I recommend you see the film, don't be too excited about it and you will be fine. This film should be viewed after seeing the original Drunken Master to appreciate it, THEN watch Jackie Chan's version of Drunken Master 2 (highly rated version).
